Japan to extend sanctions on N. Korea by 1 yr instead of 6 months |
2009-04-02 |
[Kyodo: Korea] The Japanese government plans to extend its sanctions against North Korea that are set to expire April 13 by a year instead of the current six months if Pyongyang launches a ballistic missile, government sources said Wednesday. The doubling of the extension period will be formalized at a Cabinet meeting Friday with the aim of sending a message of protest to North Korea about its plan to launch a rocket carrying what it claims to be a satellite, according to the sources. |
