Those wanting instability in country behind terrorists: Reham
2009-03-31
(APP): Interior Advisor Rehman Malik Monday said that perpetrators of Manawan Police Training Center terrorist attack wanted to destabilize the country to portray its negative image abroad. In a telephonic interview to a private television channel after the successful completion of operation at the Police Training Center the Adviser said that a number of terrorists have been arrested in the operation. He said that 4 of the terrorists were killed during the operation while the rest have been nabbed by the law enforcing agencies.

The first terrorist arrested was a 19‑20 year old pushto speaking youth who is being interrogated now, he said.

He said that some of the terrorists were dressed in police uniform and the investigation is going on to know the exact number of the gang who have been arrested.

There number would become public very soon, he added.

He said a high level investigation team has already been formed which has been given three days' time to probe the incident.

As a number of terrorists have been arrested , their investigation would help reach the masterminds whosoever they are, he said.

To a question the Adviser said the investigators of the Sri Lankan Team attack incident have gathered valuable information about the terrorists but at the time details cannot be made public.

He said apparently the method of Monday's attack was different than that on the Sri Lankan Team but real facts would come on surface after the investigation.

Rehman Malik said that whosoever the terrorist are, one thing is clear that they are playing in the hands of Pakistan's enemy who want to create instability in the country.

To another question the Advisor said that earlier the Police force in the country was not trained to deal with the terrorist attacks' phenomena adding but the President and the Prime Minister have taken the initiative under which 100,000 trained personnel would be given to each province to deal in this menace.
