Bomb meant for GIs kills Iraqi students |
2009-03-26 |
At least four Iraqi children have been killed and seven others have been injured in an explosion near a school in the northern city of Mosul. The bomb, planted in a garbage container, apparently was meant for a passing US convoy in Rashidiyah neighborhood, but missed the target and instead hit the female students who were leaving the primary school for their homes. All the victims were under 12 years of age. In a separate incident, an Iraqi civilian was killed and three others were wounded in a bomb explosion in the al-Bakr neighborhood of eastern Mosul. The second incident, likewise, was originally aimed at targeting US soldiers patrolling the area. The blasts came after Iraqi security forces arrested 19 insurgents in the restive city, where insurgency remains strong despite security crackdowns being in progress. |

#1 The average Iraqi Sunni had better hope their terrorist faction gets wiped out before US forces leave, because I would not be surprised to see the Shia-dominated government apply Hama rules to communities they suspect of harboring such terrorists. |
