| #1 I spent a lot of time with obscurants, the natural enemy of lasers. A dozen US Army fog generators can lay a thick blanket of fog oil fog over a five square mile area very quickly. Cheap and cheerful to make fog, night vision devices can see through it unless you add an inexpensive additive. The Russians are big believers in obscurants, which is probably why Saddam torched the Kuwaiti oil fields. This has to be taken into account if you want to use combat lasers. |
