PA has to free Hamas prisoners or no reconciliation
2009-02-23 | |
Hamas said on Sunday that reconciliation talks with Fatah would not succeed unless the Palestinian Authority releases hundreds of Hamas supporters who are being held without trial in its West Bank jails.
A PA official told The Jerusalem Post over the weekend that the new US administration has given a green light for holding the reconciliation talks. He pointed out that the previous US administration had been totally opposed to such talks.

#8 An ARCLIGHT strike, rabid whitetail, was a mass bombing exercise, usually by a trio of B-52Ds. The targets were usually developed in Siagon, and the coordinates to be bombed were transmitted to Anderson AFB, Guam, where the mission originated. The "D" model B-52 was the only one used for these strikes. They're all at the boneyard in Davis-Monthan now. The target coordinates were a "box" one mile wide and three miles long. The aircraft were in a semi-spread formation (2500 feet between aircraft), usually at 40,000 feet. Bombs were dropped in sequence - the centerline aircraft would drop one bomb, then the left (port) aircraft would drop a bomb, then the right (starboard) aircraft would drop a bomb. The bombs were dropped in 0.1-second intervals until all 318 were dropped. Most of the time, the bombs were dropped in daylight, but the Buffs were so high the NVA couldn't hear them. The first indication they were the target was the whistling sound of bombs falling. The typical kill-zone was 8-10 miles wide and from 5 to 15 miles long. Three-hundred foot teak trees would be reduced to splinters in less than ten minutes, and the ground literally pulverised to a depth of five to fifteen feet. It will literally scare (or knock, but that works, too) the sh$$ out of you if you're too close. It definitely gets the attention of those on the receiving end. I was about 25 miles from an ARCLIGHT strike in 1971. My ears have been ringing every since. |

#6 I meant to say: Fatah should tell Hamas that there will be no reconciliation until the Fatah supporters who were murdered are returned to life |

#1 The US should run an ARCLIGHT strike down through the center of Gaza, and THEN begin negotiations. I'm sure the surviving Hamass "leaders" will be glad to make a deal to prevent a second such attack. Of course, we'd have to have a president with the cojones to actually DO something for that to happen, so I guess we'll have to wait for Bobby Jindal or Sarah Palin in 2012. |
