President Shimon Peres said Wednesday that he had erred in supporting Israel's unilateral withdrawal from Gaza. The revealing remarks come three years after Israel's evacuation of the volatile coastal strip which has since been seized by Hamas. "Whatever will happen in the future, we shall not repeat the mistakes we made in leaving Gaza," Peres said in a question and answer session with a group of American Jewish leaders. #3 President Peres may be saying this now to keep a check-rein on Kadima, should they be the ones to form the new government. Tzipi has been talking about trading land for peace... although hopefully she just means trade land with Arabs on it for land with Israelis on it. Scooter, I did not realize what would happen. |

#1 If only he had made this realization BEFORE the withdrawal, and subsequently ruining countless lives on both sides of the Gaza border. Plenty of other people knew exactly what would happen. Most of the Rantburg-reading population, for example. |
