| IDF soldiers kill Palestinian gunman in Hebron Hills |

| Palestinian militants shot at Israeli soldiers in the West Bank region of the Hebron Hills on Sunday morning. The troops subsequently returned fire, killing one of the gunmen. None of the Israel Defense Forces soldiers was wounded in the gunfight, which took place near the West Bank settlement of Beit Yatir. The incident was the latest in a recent upsurge of attacks in the West Bank following Israel's 22-day offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. About two weeks ago, IDF troops shot and killed a Palestinian who participated in a violent West Bank protest against the campaign in Gaza. A few days earlier, a Palestinian militant stabbed an IDF soldier at the Almog junction in the southern West Bank, near the Dead Sea, and fled. The soldier sustained moderate wounds in the attack. |
