Bomb blast leaves 3 dead in Fallujah |
2008-12-25 |
![]() An unnamed security source told Voices of Iraq that the casualties were inflicted after an improvised explosive device (IED) went off in front of a house belonging to Sheikh Ahmed Rashed -- a leader in Falluja's Albo Issa tribe. The source added that a cordon of police surrounded the area following the blast and the wounded were taken to nearby hospitals to receive treatment. The security forces have meanwhile launched a thorough investigation into the attack as the motive behind it remains unknown. Fallujah, in Anbar province, was once the hotbed of insurgent assaults against US forces in the months after the US-led invasion of Iraq in March 2003. American troops nearly flattened the city in 2004 in one of the biggest onslaughts launched by US forces. |
