Sudan: ICC prosecutor calls for arrest of three Darfur rebels |
2008-11-23 |
![]() The ICC chief says the three were responsible for the attack on an African Union peace mission in September 2007. Twelve people were killed in the attack and eight others injured. Mr Ocampo said such actions cannot be allowed to go unpunished. The judges of the court in The Hague must now agree to issue the arrest warrants. The names of the rebel leaders and the groups to which they belong have not been made public. Mr Ocampo says this is confidential information and its release could obstruct a future trial. In July, Mr Ocampo demanded the arrest of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir for genocide in Darfur. His request is still being considered. |
