#1 In Africa, both cholera and ebola spread at funerals. Relatives handle both the dead body and the funeral food. According to a National Geographic article, "The Disease Detectives" (IIRC; from about 1991), one of the Guineas had to outlaw traditional funerals to halt the spread of cholera. It began in a fishing village, probably from bad shellfish, and spread inland. |
