Lake had to take a publicity picture in which she reacted painfully to her hair getting "caught" in a drill press in order to heighten public awareness about the hazard of her hairstyle. Her last good film was The Blue Dahlia in 1946. |

| #8 I read/heard somewhere that during WWII, she cut off her trademark bangs to be a role model for the Rosie The Riveters (concerns were long hair getting caught in moving parts in the war plants). Without her look, her career nosedived and never recovered. Can you imagine any of the A-List actresses today giving a rat's ass about the WOT? |
