| 15 killed, 94 wounded in Talafar car bomb |

| (VOI) -- A total of 109 persons were killed or wounded in a car bomb explosion that ripped though a residential area in Talafar district, Ninewa, the third blast to hit the province today, Iraqi authorities said. On Wednesday evening, a total of 15 persons were killed and 94 others were wounded when an explosives-rigged car detonated in al-Taleea neighborhood, downtown Talafar (60 km west of Mosul city), Talafar Mayor Brigadier Najm Abdullah al-Juburi told Aswat al-Iraq- Voices of Iraq- (VOI). The brigadier noted that some of the wounded were in a critical condition, expecting the death toll to rise further. Earlier today, two suicide car bomb explosions ripped through Ninewa's Mosul city. The first targeted a U.S. patrol vehicle in al-Maared intersection, leaving six civilians wounded; while the second occurred in Doura al-Hamam area, eastern Mosul, leaving two dead and nine others wounded. Acts of violence have recently become a daily occurrence in the city, despite security successes claimed by Iraqi authorities since the commencement of operations Lion's Roar and Umm al-Rabiain (Mother of the Two Springs) on May 10. |
