Body of 'flying priest' balloon adventurer recovered off Brazil | |
2008-07-06 | |
![]() Yeah, it's all great fun until somebody puts an eye out or a priest kills himself, innit? Father de Carli went missing in April while attempting to fly with 1,000 helium-filled party balloons tied to a chair. St. Thomas Aquinas would be so proud. The body was recovered by a tugboat crew off Rio de Janeiro state, reports said. Police said clothing, a rucksack and shoes left little doubt that the body was that of the priest. DNA tests would be conducted to provide final proof. I think it's too late for an IQ test.

#9 Barb, can you imagine how much you could make if you offered people .22 rifles to shoot at the balloons, once he gets to a decent altitude? I'd take out a second mortgage... |

#8 One wonders how poor Mr. Gore manages to cause severe local cooling under the circumstances, JFM, and yet he does. Perhaps he functions like an air conditioner, pulling all the heat into himself? |

#7 Al Gore has so much hot air in him that he could lift a battleship. |

#6 Sad that such good intent, by a good man, for a good cause, can go so bad. Too bad his smarts didnt equal his compassion. |

#2 Fundraising? Better to tie a 1,000 helium balloons to Al Gore. Plenty of folks would pay good money to see that. |

#1 Please. This guy was tryiing to collect funds for an orphanage or something. The piry is that worthy people like him are forced to such desperate measures while Al Gore is making himself a zillionaire. |
