Accordion Lady alert: Rumors abound
2008-06-11
Speculation is growing that the "suspected US missile" that struck in Mohmand Agency yesterday may have been looking for a specific addressee. In this case, a 96-hour rule shall apply unless and until the technicians with the tweezers and zip-lock baggies issue their report.

#16  I find the timing suspicious

This wasn't the Osama I knew

I could no more disown him than I could...

Unfortunately, because of a staff error

#15  You have my condolences. We only had to visit the relatives annually.

#14  Not a polka fan--my ethnicity is Scots and Irish--but I could not escape it growing up in Youngstown:

-- On Sunday afternoons, half the houses in the neighborhood listened to "Larry Walk's Happy Polkaland Show" on WNIO -- with the volume cranked up!

-- Every wedding reception had the "Chicken Dance."

-- And, of course, who could forget the ad blitz for the annual Penn-Ohio Polka Festival at Idora Park?

#13  Yankovic Light Opera Company

Mike, don't tell me you were a fan of Paul Wilcox's Polka Varieties TV show on Channel 5! Makes me misty-eyed just thinking about it.

(Both the rumor and the show. . . .)

#12  The problem with a missile strike is it can be so hard to confirm.

#10  We can only hope ol knot head got his come-in-uppins. Dancing in the streets may follow after the 96-hour rule is satisfied.

#9  Maybe the fat lady can sing with an accordian accompaniment:

"And now, National Public Radio presents the Yankovic Light Opera Company's production of Wagner's Tannhauser, arranged for accordian and polka band by the Czech composer Jaromír Vejvoda. Jaromír Vejvoda was born in Zbraslav on March 28, 1902, and is best known for his popular work 'The Beer Barrell Polka.' Major funding for this NPR Opera presentation is made possible by a grant from the Ford Foundation, by Monsanto Chemical, and taxpayers like you."

#8  I like the fat lady singing better. Never mind... I'd be happy with accordion, too!

#3  We can only hope. If the islamo-cockroach did end up in the roach moetel, we all know that this will not dent let alone end terrorism from allan and his demons. However, I will rest a little easier, with a son in harm's way, that it's the rare bird that does not reap what they so in this life.
