| Overnight clashes injure 4 in Lebanon |

| At least four people have been wounded in overnight clashes between supporters of rival political factions in eastern Lebanon. Armed men opened fire with machine guns, mortar rounds and rockets in the village of Saadnayel in the Bekaa Valley during the night. The tension lasted until dawn despite army intervention, security sources said on Monday. The Voice of Lebanon radio station also said at least 50 RPGs and mortar shells fell on Saadnayel and Taalbaya in central Bekaa overnight. The army has moved in force to the area by Monday morning, but tension is still prevailing. Similar clashes had also broken out between rival factions in the capital, Beirut. |
