| Sweden: Honour violence is "rampant" |

| Honour-related violence is rampant across the country, according to a new study by Sveriges Radio. Nearly 60 percent of the countryÂ’s social services have helped victims of honour violence or those threatened with honour violence to hide themselves. 75 percent of the countryÂ’s social services answered a survey from Sveriges Radio. Seven of ten responded that they had dealt with cases involving honour-related violence. Honour-related violence most often affects women and young girls. In families where it occurs, can girls be strictly controlled and have their social lives sharply restricted. It can also involve forced marriage. Lutherans? Raelians? Cargo cultists? |
