Mass grave, tons of chemicals, 44 rockets found in northern Falluja
2008-05-29
(VOI) – Iraqi security forces found a mass grave, two tons of chemicals, and 44 Katyusha rockets in northern Falluja, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday. "Today, a force from the Quick Intervention Division conducted a military operation in Falluja's northern area of al-Tharthar and found two tons of chemicals, and 44 Katyusha rockets," according to a ministerial statement received by Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI). "The forces discovered a mass grave in the same area," the statement noted.

"An Iraqi army force captured three girly men terrorists in women's clothes and a large number of Katyusha rockets and mortar shells in al-Tharthar area," another ministerial statement received by VOI said.

#14  They're not Katyushas The Russians stopped making 132mm artillery rockets a long, long time ago.

#13  Yah, what chemicals? C4 is a compound of only 3 chemicals, and is almost twice as powerful as TNT, and much easier to make. Katyushas have to be fired by rocket launcher. Let's call this investigation still open.

#12  if they felt they needed to hide/bury the chemicals it couldn't have been good.
Will we find out what the chemicals were?

#11  The chemicals might be chlorine. There was some used in that area several months back.

#10  The MSM isn't going to notice most of these stories. Voice of Iraq doesn't make a lot of reference to the Americans, for startsies. They don't paint the Iraqi forces as incompetent or corrupt, either.

The quality of the reporting's not up to that of Pak Daily Times yet, but I'm willing to give them time. I can remember Sammy's Uruk Net when it was Iraq's only English-language web. It was just about as bad as Syria's SANA site or Libya's Grand Enormous Jamahiriyah abomination.

#9  even if it was 'only' Ammonium Nitrate, you can ask the people of Oklahoma City if having out of the hands of AQ was a big deal...

good news to me. good job troopers

#7  interesting thing is that AQ wasn't able to use this big cache

#6  Holy Sarin Batman, thats a lot of chemicals!!!

Two Tons, let me repeat that TWO TONS of Chemicals...that would kill thousands of people if dispursed in a military weapon.

I bet the MSM buried that little line on page 43 next to the lost dog ads. That is if they didn't edit it out of the story all together.

Very interesting

#3  And how old are those Chemicals? Is this a Hussein stash or a new AQ or Sadr stash?

#1  These findings can be linked to informants. Some Katyushas are long range; the less of them in terrorist hands, the better.
