2008-02-06 |
![]() “We do not need any new law. Firstly, the government should implement the law in Peshawar and Islamabad and then extend it to the Malakand Division,” Swat-based lawyer Ali Haider told Daily Times. He said the legislation, which would repeal the superior courts’ jurisdiction in the Malakand Division and adjacent districts of Chitral, Swat and Dir, was a “black law”. Advocate Yousaf Khan Yousafzai also opposed the law, saying Muslims were living in all parts of the country and therefore the government should first implement the law in the rest of the country. He said the people of Swat would riot if the proposed draft were implemented. |
