Jundullah men in police custody till February 7

Two alleged members of the banned Jundullah (AllahÂ’s brigade) were remanded to the custody of the Special Investigations Unit, Jamshed Quarters, till February 7 by Anti-Terrorism Court Administrative Judge Justice Khawaja Naveed Ahmed on Thursday.

The SIU police produced the accused amid heavy security Thursday afternoon and identified them as Muhammad Qasim Toori alias Hamza alias Haji Sahib and Abid alias Ali. According to the remand papers submitted by IO Sharique Siddiqui, the accused terrorists will be further interrogated for links to arms and other alleged criminals.

According to the complaint by Nijabat Hussain, police raided a house, No. 577/578 Sector 17-A, Shah Latif Town, where the accused opened fire at the authorities with the intent to kill. Two police personnel, DSP Asghar Dahiri and HC Raja Tariq, died as a result of the firing while HC Tariq Shah and Baber Zaki were wounded. The remand papers also show the recovery of 3 TT pistols, 25 hand grenades, Kalashikov rifles with 1,200 rounds, two rocket launchers and 12 rockets besides 28 kilograms of explosives with suicide jackets.
