Suspected US Air Strike Kills Militants in Pakistan
2008-02-01
Pakistani intelligence officials are blaming a suspected U.S. missile strike for killing up to 13 foreign militants in the country's volatile North Waziristan region this week.
Who? Us? But that'd be a violation of Pak sovreignty...
The officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, say at least one drone aircraft similar to those used by U.S. forces in Afghanistan, was believed to have been involved in the attack.
But only similar to the kind we use. Why, really, it coulda been most anybody -- Guatamala'd be particularly high on my list of suspects, in fact.
They say seven Arabs and six Central Asians were killed in the strike which took place late Monday.
No locals? What's the puppy and kitten count?
Neither the Pentagon nor the Pakistani military has confirmed the attack.
There's a reason for that. If they asked real hard in Guatemala City, I'll bet they'd get some answers.
In other news, the Pakistani air force says a bomb exploded near a military truck in the town of Akora Khattak Thursday, but no one was injured. The air force said the truck was carrying three people and suffered slight damage.
"My truck! You slightly damaged my truck! You bastards!"
"Oh, Mahmoud! Don't worry about it! Just change the tire and let's go!"
Also today, police in Quetta say a bomb exploded at a bicycle stand outside a court, wounding three people.
More cycles of violence! Will it never end?
Violence has spread in Pakistan's tribal area near the Afghan border in recent months.
I think I'd phrase that "Violence emanates from Pakistain's tribal area." But maybe that's just me.
The region is believed to be a sanctuary for al-Qaida and Taliban militants.
Now, who'd believe something like that?

#1  Fred, I agree with all your snark except the drone belonging to Guatemala. "Everybody" knows all of Guatemala's drones are watching Samoza in Nicaragua. It was the mighty Vanuatans with one of their hang gliders armed drones.
