(KUNA) -- Iraq's Interior Minister Jawad Al-Bulani has appointed a new chief for the Babel province after the late commander Major-General Qais al-Mamouri was assassinated with companions earlier this month. The Minister issued an order promoting Brigadier Fadhel Redam Kazem to the rank of a Major-General and appointing him as a new chief for the Babel police, Ministry Spokesman Major-General Abdul-Karim Khalaf told KUNA on Thursday. A roadside bomb killed al-Mamouri south of Baghdad on December 9, just hours after US military commanders had publicly praised his efforts to secure his region. |
