| #9 Redneck Jim, That would theoretically be possible, but many types of executions also make the organs unsuitable for organ donation. There was a convict in Florida that appealed his death sentance on the grounds that electrocution would prevent him from being able do donate his organs. Don't know what became of the case. | #7 Liver transplant patients are told the condition of the Liver at least in a in a general way.. It's a fairly involved subject as to what defines a "good" Liver. anyway In order to ask your Doctors an intelligent question you'd need to have at least some edumaction and background knowledge on the subject. I'm sure if you are at the point of dying [and most liver transplant patients are btw] you aren't to picky if all that's available for you is a B+ or C- Donor Organ. The difference between a sick totally failed Liver and a less than perfect Liver is like day and night. Many more folks die from the want of a liver than from a complication from a less than perfect Liver. I know someone who had Back to Back Liver transplants because the first transplanted liver failed right away.. wouldn't start! [call AAA] |

| #4 gromky, addicts have poor nutrition. Addiction screws up a lot of the body's systems. "Perfectly good" is not at all guaranteed in this situation. Moreover, the transplant recipients were not told of the origin of these organs. Like the guy who got this liver: one donor died from an overdose of paracetamol which can cause severe liver damage yet the liver was transplanted into a patient. Now, maybe if told he would have taken the risk. His case was, after all, urgent. But liver transplant is difficult under the best of circumstances. This was incredibly risky for him -- and he wasn't informed. |
