| Ahmadinejad offers Gulf Arab states security pact |

| DOHA (AFP) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday offered a security pact with Gulf Arab leaders, as he became the first president from the Islamic republic to take part in their summit. "We are proposing the conclusion of a security agreement," Ahmadinejad told the opening session of the Gulf Cooperation Council summit, saying insecurity would affect all countries bordering the Gulf. |

| #3 The Gulf Arab states are Sunni, correct? Can anyone explain why we haven't created some kind of NATO type organization for the Gulf? I'm thinking back to the tanker war days mostly but such an organization would be helpful I would think. |
