 Global warming experts are using the works of British artist JMW Turner to try to track climate change over more than a century. Greek scientists have studied the colours in more than 500 paintings of sunsets, including many of Turner's 19th-century watercolours and oils, in hope of gaining insights into the cooling effects caused by major volcanic eruptions. |

| #11 I recall reading last week that among the things they were investigating was a statement by a Monk that on a certain date the Wine froze in the chalice, this gives at least a rough estimate of temperature which was unrecorded before thermometers were invented. Not as dumb as it first appears to use spectrum colors to determine such things as humidity, those famous artists were fanatics to get exactly the right color(s). and this long before anyone thought of spectrography. |
