For decades the local Muslim Arabs had used the base of the Wailing Wall as a public toilet. This defilement was nothing less than an intentional assault on the JewÂ’s spiritual history. The Italian journalist, Oriana Fallaci, authored a book titled, Rage and Pride. In vivid, vernacular terms she described how offended she was about immigrant Somali Muslims defiling the grounds of a cathedral in Florence, Italy. They stained the marble edifice with their urine and filled the exterior entrance to the BishopÂ’s Baptistery with their excrement.

Israel has acted in well-documented good faith for so long that any further demonstrations are no longer needed of her. All that Israel should be required to do is stand by as the Palestinians describe and then commit themselves to honoring whatever peace agreement has been reached. All further concessions must come from the other side of the table.
In reality, Israel has endured such endless betrayal at the Arabs', UN's and Quartet's hands that they should no longer feel constrained by world opinion and begin acting strictly in their own self-interest. This is a right they earned long ago and the Palestinians have forfeited any further calls for Israeli compliance or even mercy through their constant provocation and endless perfidy. |
