Police arrested Muttahida Majlis-e-AmalÂ’s (MMA) central leader Liaquat Baloch on Tuesday from the Parliament Lodges under section 3 of Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).According to the MMA sources, Baloch, who was underground since the promulgation of emergency rule on November 3, participated in a protest demonstration of journalists at Aabpara to express solidarity with them. However, when he went to his official residence at the Parliament Lodges, a heavy contingent of police headed by Assistant Commissioner Kamran Cheema arrested him.
Later, Baloch was shifted to Adiala Jail. It is pertinent to mention that the authorities had already issued his detention orders on November 3.
