Bangla gives up executive control over judiciary |

![]() Under the reform, lower courts will come under the control of the chief justice of the Supreme Court, which will also appoint judicial magistrates to take over the lower courts across the country. The government and its law ministry will also no longer have the power to appoint judges, replace or sack them. “Political governments used to impose their will on the courts,” said Borhanuddin Khan, the dean of Dhaka University’s law faculty. |
