Jordan's King Abdullah II voiced support for a US-sponsored international peace conference following talks in Britain Thursday with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, a royal palace statement said.
Abdullah expressed "Jordan's strong support for the planned international meeting on the Middle East," the statement said. But it did not refer to Arab suggestions to postpone the meeting to complete preparations between the Israelis and Palestinians. The statement quoted the king as telling Rice during a closed-door meeting in the British capital, where Abdullah is on an official visit, that he was "encouraged to hear the progress achieved during Secretary Rice's talks in the Middle East." |
