#11  They're just pissed cuz they aren't invited to the party.

#10  To put it into a proper perspective---what would've happened to an Hindu employee refusing to handle beef products?"

I agree there and also believe this only endorses a radical perception of Islam amongst Muslims.
Muslims are prohibited to drink alcohol by Islamic law, which is totally OK.
This isn't drinking alcohol or touching alcohol; it's a distorted rational, the same which helps extremism exist.

#9  SO overwhelm the checkout staff with mass quantities of alcohol related products and eventually the top dogs will figure it out and give these idiots their own broom and an aisle to run it in......(or the door)

#8  Or are they required to beat everyone over the head for even looking at it, even if it isn't a part of that person's religion?

Le bingo.

#7  The real insult is that a muslim should live within 1000km of a bottle of whiskey.

#6  I am offended by muslims, consider their devil religion to be the work of Lucifer and find their presence physically nauseating.

I take it this means I can send muslims to be served at a different check-out.

#4  Why are they working there? It makes about as much sense as a nun going to work for an adult bookstore and objecting to "offensive" sales.

And so what if they are handling a bottle with alcohol in it? Doesn't their religion just say that they are not allowed to consume alcohol? Or are they required to beat everyone over the head for even looking at it, even if it isn't a part of that person's religion?

#3  There is some common sense left in Britian: Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, director of the Muslim Institute and leader of the Muslim parliament, said: “This is some kind of overenthusiasm. One expects professional behaviour from people working in a professional capacity and this shows a lack of maturity.

“Sainsbury’s is being very good, they are trying to accommodate the wishes of their employees and we commend that. The fault lies with the employee who is exploiting and misusing their goodwill. It makes no difference if it is only happening over Ramadan.”

#1  Employees who refuse to perform their legitimately assigned tasks should be fired on the spot. None of these Muslim whingers are being asked to consume, prepare, serve drinks or come into direct contact with alcohol. Any attempt to soothe their endlessly offended Muslim "sensibilities" is the very worst sort of folly. These totally contrived and unreasonable objections are, as YorkshireMiner said, "just the thin end of an even larger wedge". Fire them now and be done with such appeasement tommyrot.
