Unidentified gunmen killed a senior leader of the defunct Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) Aslam Farooqi in Shah Qabool police precincts on Sunday, said police.Attackers fired at Farooqi outside his home at Mohallah Shah Naqshbandia near Kohati Gate at around 11 am. He was the provincial president of the SSP that was later banned by the government. Peshawar Senior Superintendent of Police Operations Mohammad Tahir Khan told Daily Times that two attackers on a motorcycle opened fire on Farooqi around 100 yards away from his home. He said one of the attackers, Shabir, of Parachinar, Kurram Agency, had been arrested while the other had escaped. He said police were investigating to find out whether the murder was a sectarian killing or the result of another motive.
