In other violence: The militants attacked police at a checkpoint in Shinkay district in Zabul province on Monday, and the ensuing clash left five suspected militants dead, said Ali Kheil, the spokesman for Zabul's governor. There were no police casualties, he said. Authorities recovered the militants' bodies alongside three motorbikes used in the attack, Kheil said. Also in southern Afghanistan, Dutch soldiers fatally shot a motorcyclist who approached their convoy and failed to heed warning signals and shots, the Dutch Defense Ministry said. Need to pay attention in Drivers Ed class! | ||

#19 In yet another catastrophe for the Taliban, Pakistan announced that it would close all Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan by 2009, sending some two million Afghans back to Afghanistan. Most of the camps are in the tribal areas along the Afghan border, and have long been used as Taliban bases, and centers of Islamic radical activity. Why would *we* wait until 2009? Why shouldn't *we* simply eradicate them now? |

#18 Come Mr. Taliban, tally me banana. |

#17 there's a lot more Talibs where they came from. In yet another catastrophe for the Taliban, Pakistan announced that it would close all Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan by 2009, sending some two million Afghans back to Afghanistan. Most of the camps are in the tribal areas along the Afghan border, and have long been used as Taliban bases, and centers of Islamic radical activity. |

#15 Actually, AoS, I DID check for duplicates just before posting, and it was not there yet. And it wasn't a 'refresh' issue, because when I next checked the page, this version was the only one there. Fred's popped in under it an hour or so later, I think. At least on my computer. |

#14 Amen Chuck they lose big time face back at camp when they try to claim to be "brave" in the face of the enemy. |

#13 Let's also keep in mind that you want a few to run away. It's far more satisfying to find out where they run to than to kill them on the spot. |

#12 A. Talib Adam doesn't have the balls to fight. B. I bet we got most of them. It's easier to count dead bodies than folks who ran away. |

#11 I keep hoping that Taliban Adam was among the attackers. |

#6 Cut off their winter escape routes starting now. Oh, and start using square bullets. It may help with the wounded ones that are getting away. :-) |

#5 "Unfortunately, about 2/3 of the attackers seem to have escaped" Winter is coming on soon. The snow flies in those mountains by early September. The Talibunnies are now attempting to reduce their number in order to have enough food to eat over the winter. |

#4 P'rhaps this means they've run out of properly trained strategists and tacticians, and are working on running out of improperly trained ones. |

#3 If the Taliwhacker's keep this beat-down on the Coalition Forces going, they are going to run out of Taliwhackers. |

#2 rare frontal attack that left more than 20 militants dead Someone still reading from the Dreaded Taliban Spring Offensive Playbook? Rumor has it they are going to do a sequel called "Die Faster". A much pithier title, IMHO. |

#1 Unfortunately, about 2/3 of the attackers seem to have escaped. What's the normal wounded/killed ratio in fights like this? If it's 2:1, then pretty much all the attackers should be injured - let's hope for sepsis. |
