Iraqi Special Operations Forces, with U.S. Special Forces as advisors, detained an al-Qaeda-in-Iraq cell leader July 25 in southern Baghdad. ISOF entered and secured the building where the targeted individual was located without incident. As the occupants were being questioned, one identified himself as the primary suspect. One other suspicious individual who was present during the operation was also detained.The primary suspect is believed to command an al-Qaeda-in-Iraq cell which operates out of the Jamia area. The primary suspectÂ’s cell is allegedly responsible for conducting attacks against Iraqi citizens using vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices intended to stimulate sectarian violence. The detainees are being held for questioning. No Iraqi or Coalition Forces were injured in the operation.
