| #5 Nifong is very lucky this little misunderstanding didn't take place in the 1920's or 30's. The outcome, as well as his personal situation, might have been somewhat more dire. |

| #2 The whole thing would have been fine, if the boys had not been able to defend themselves. They'd be in prison, Nifong would be in higher office, and everyone would have patted themselves on the back for condemning racism by white men. |
