| #2 Ironically, the concentration camp victims can be found, because their remains were buried. However, very few of the vast number of Slavs murdered were buried, often stacked in piles, then covered in fuel oil and burned by the einsatzgruppe in the retreat from Russia. It even surprised the Wehrmacht, who had no idea what was going on in their rear area, until they had to retreat back through it. |
