Wonder if he'll talk about the "better politicians than spies" issue at Langley, or address the nearly unbelievable silliness of the 1990s documented by Baer and others. George always had a mystical and magical effect on principals - mysterious the rest of us, for whom he was a likeable but not overpowering sort - and that plus circumstance carried him far above where he should have been. Dangerous combo when you had the lightweights (which ran up to the very top) in the Clinton years. Still can't believe Dubya tolerated the shenanigans from the CIA during the 04 campaign, not to mention the damaging criminal leaks of classified operations. |
