Saudi reformers petition king for elections
2007-04-03
Saudi reformers said on Monday they had delivered a petition calling for free elections to King Abdullah and leading princes in the absolute monarchy, a US ally. “It has been sent to the king and 15 senior princes,” reformer Mohammed Bin Hudaijan said, adding that the document has 99 signatories. The document, dated Feb 2, was available on the Internet (www.dostor-islami.com) for any Saudi to add his or her name.
