After 3 decades, Indian POW families have some hope |
2007-03-10 |
For more than three decades, Damayanti Vijay Tambay has been longing, and perhaps dreading, to undertake this journey from India. At the end of her planned trip to Pakistan next month, she hopes to find her husband, Flight Lieutenant Vijay Vasant Tambay -- dead or alive. Tambay went missing in December, 1971 after he took off on a fighter aircraft at the height of a war between South Asian rivals India and Pakistan. India says 54 soldiers and officers are believed missing from that war. Pakistan denies it has any prisoners of war. |
