| Thai jihadis slaughter grocer and blow stuff up |

| Southern extremists shot and killed the owner of a Narathiwat grocery store on Friday, then planted a bomb at the shop to try to kill police responding to the shooting. Four gunmen pretending to be customers entered the grocer's shop in Sungaipadi district and shot Mr Preecha, the owner, who died at the scene. When police and soldiers were inspecting the site, a bomb exploded. While no one was wounded, police found another bomb hidden on the premises. They used high pressure water guns to defuse the second bomb. The killing and the bombings at the grocery occurred following bombs being set off at two electric utility poles in Narathiwat's Waeng district on Friday morning. No one was wounded but electricity in Waeng and Sukirin districts was disrupted. |
