| DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A suspected member of a banned Sunni militant organisation was shot dead by gunmen here on Thursday as police arrested a close relative of wanted tribal militant Abdullah Mehsud in nearby Tank city, seizing explosives and suicide jackets. Sarwar Alam alias ‘Alami’ of the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan was on his way to his shop when two motorcyclists shot him and fled, police told local reporters. Reuters quoted police as saying that Alami had been accused of killing Shia Muslims in the past, but was released because of lack of evidence. Witnesses said one of the motorcyclists was wearing a helmet and the other a burqa. And a Wonder Bra®. Don't forget the Wonder Bra®! Police said a case had been registered against the unidentified assailants. Meanwhile, police claimed they had arrested a close relative of Abdullah Mehsud, who is wanted by the government for his involvement in the kidnapping of two Chinese engineers in October 2004. Waheedullah had been assigned to carry out a suicide attack, reported Reuters, but his target was not known. Police were investigating whether the attack was in retaliation over the killing of a Shia Muslim leader in DI Khan last month. “Police arrested Waheedullah (28) from a street in Tank city after being tipped off about his location,” police Inspector Amir Abdullah told reporters. The suspected terrorist is a resident of Nanoo village, also Abdullah Mehsud’s hometown. Waheedullah is said to be Meshud’s cousin. “Two suicide jackets, 30 kilogrammes of explosives, a detonator and some wires were seized during a body search,” said the police officer. Police said Waheedullah could provide law-enforcement agencies vital clues about Meshud’s terror network. Two suicide jackets, 30 kg of explosives, a detonator and some wires... Betcha he gets off for lack of sufficient evidence.
