Six terrorists killed in two different encounters

In a major success against terrorists, army has gunned down six terrorists in two different encounters in the Kupwara district of north Kashmir. Four terrorists belonging to Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist outfit, were killed in a three hours long gun battle in the Wadarbal forests near Rajwar in Kupwara late last night. According to the Defense PRO, Lt Col AK Mathur a team of 21 Rashtriya Rifles on specific information that four militants were hiding in the forests of Waderbal, launched a combing operation in the forests. "Our men first zeroed in to the location of the hiding terrorists and then asked them to surrender, but they started firing indiscriminately towards our men. We retaliated the fire and in the gun battle that lasted for more than three hours all of the four hiding terrorists were killed." Said Lt Col AK Mathur

Army has also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the possession of the slain militants. "A war like store of arms and ammunition was recovered from their possession which included four AK 47 assault rifles, large number of explosives, food material and other such stuff used for carrying out militancy related activities." Said the PRO Adding he said, "However the identity of the killed terrorists could not be established as yet, but from the documents recovered from them it has been confirmed that all of the four belonged to Lashkar- e- Taiba terrorist outfit."

In another operation two unidentified terrorists were killed by the jawans of 2 Para Battalion of the army in the Devnar.-Margitop in Sogam village of Kupwara district in north Kashmir.
