| TV truck falls through ice while crew preps for ice-safety segment |

| This is Stephanie Airhead report...glugglugglugglugglug... MUSKEGO - A local news station's truck was pulled from a lake Tuesday, nearly two days after becoming partially submerged in ice and mud. After five hours of work, recovery efforts were called off Monday because the CBS 58 (WDJT) van was stuck in a lot of mud. Work will resume Tuesday morning when crews return with special gear. In the meantime, a lot of onlookers have been flocking to the odd scene at Big Muskego Lake. Say, Clem. Ya think this here's a metaphor fer the current state of the eeelectronic mass medidia? Aaaayup... Jim Konkol has been coming to the lake most of his life and was shocked to hear someone drove on the frozen canal. "They probably didn't know about it. It looks like a road, but it's not," Konkol told TODAY'S TMJ4 reporter Jonathan Vigliotti. Dozens of other people watched in disbelief. ...and them there city folk always be pickin on us. Well, not today. "Well, it says 'boat launch' over there. This is where you always access the boat when you go on the lake," said Muskego resident Tracy Blair. Yah, ya dumbass city folk! Caint yall read none! Recovery crews have been working since Sunday night. Monday morning they carved out hundreds of feet of ice to make a path to tow the truck. That's when they found another problem. "This van is in some real silt. That van is in two and a half to three feet of silt at least," said Kristopher Mageske with KEM Underground Recovery. The water also froze inside. The mess happened while a photographer with CBS 58 was covering a story on the dangers of thin ice. She didn't realize she was driving down an frozen canal. Ya know, Chuck if this was, like, thin ice, I'd really be.... Police were keeping an eye on the area until efforts resumed again Tuesday morning. Channel 58 representatives have also been on scene. They say they're just glad no one was hurt. They'll also be glad when someone is unemployed. Estimated cost, 250 grand. Pics at the link. |
