Three killed, five injured in LTTE attack in Northwestern Sri Lanka |

(KUNA) -- At least two Sri Lankan troops and one civilian were killed and four others injured when suspected rebels of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) attacked a route-clearing patrol in the Northwestern part of the Island Nation Friday. The slain civilian was travelling in a passenger bus which was caught in the attack Friday morning, news agency Indo-Asian News Service reported. Three civilians and a policeman were also injured in the attack, the news agency said. Violence has increased in the Northern and Eastern Sri Lanka during the past year, resulting in the loss of lives of more than 3,200 civilians, security men and Tamil rebels. |
