2007-01-25 |
(SomaliNet) The Nigerian government has accepted to send one battalion of its troops to Somalia and join the peacekeeping mission in the country. It is the third nation that agreed to send troops to Somalia as Uganda and Malawi already pledged to offer peacekeepers to Somalia. The announcement came as the Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has made it clear that his troops will remain in Somalia capital Mogadishu. Speaking with the reporters in Addis Ababa, Mr. Meles refused to give a date for the withdrawal of his forces in Somalia. His latest comment came following yesterday two hundreds of Ethiopian forces left Somalia. |
