Mrs. Clinton Launches 2008 Presidential Bid
2007-01-20
New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton says on her Web site that she is entering the 2008 presidential race.
The excitement was so thick you could smell it. At least I think that was excitement...
Clinton's announcement, coming days after Sen. Barack Obama shook up the 2008 race with his bid to become the first black to occupy the White House, establishes the most diverse political field. Clinton is considered the front-runner, with Obama and 2004 vice presidential nominee John Edwards top contenders. New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, who would be the first Hispanic, intends to announce his plans on Sunday.

With millions in the bank, a vast network of supporters and top status in nearly every poll of Democratic contenders, Clinton has launched the most viable effort by a female candidate to capture the White House. She is the first presidential spouse to pursue the office; her husband, Bill, served two terms in the White House from 1993-2001.

#8  Love Me, I'm a Liberal
By Phil Ochs

E A E A
I cried when they shot Medgar Evers
E C#m
Tears ran down my spine
E A E
I cried when they shot Mr. Kennedy
F#7 B7
As though I'd lost a father of mine
E A E
But Malcolm X got what was coming
G#m A
He got what he asked for this time
E C#m A B7 E
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

I go to civil rights rallies
And I put down the old D.A.R.
I love Harry and Sidney and Sammy
I hope every colored boy becomes a star
But don't talk about revolution
That's going a little bit too far
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

I cheered when Humphrey was chosen
My faith in the system restored
I'm glad the commies were thrown out
Of the A.F.L. C.I.O. board
I love Puerto Ricans and Negros
As long as they don't move next door
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

The people of old Mississippi
Should all hang their heads in shame
I can't understand how their minds work
What's the matter don't they watch Les Crane?
But if you ask me to bus my children
I hope the cops take down your name
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

I read New Republic and Nation
I've learned to take every view
You know, I've memorized Lerner and Golden
I feel like I'm almost a Jew
But when it comes to times like korea
There's no one more red, white and blue
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

I vote for the democtratic party
They want the U.N. to be strong
I go to all the Pete Seeger concerts
He sure gets me singing those songs
I'll send all the money you ask for
But don't ask me to come on along
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

Once I was young and impulsive
I wore every conceivable pin
Even went to the socialist meetings
Learned all the old union hymns
But I've grown older and wiser
And that's why I'm turning you in
So love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal

#7  As a New York voter and taxpayer, my primary objection is that the next eighteen months will be taken up with campaigning and not representing the people of New York. Kerry missed over 30% of the votes in the Senate when he ran. Jim Davis missed over 20% of the votes in the House to run for Governor of Florida last year.

It's our money and they work for us. Isn't it time we asked for a fair day's work for a fair day's pay?

#5  With the Repubs in-fighting so badly over immigration a third party is likely similar to the Buchannanites and Perotistas. With Tom Tancredo announcing his candidacy will he be the one to splitt and form a isolationist third party? If so, than Hillary like Bill before her will win a plurality of the vote. Welcome to the most angry and inflexible President this country has ever seen.

#4  Here she comes, like a runaway train. She and her minions are going to smear Osama Obama like shit hitting a fan. The problem is that she will overpower any likely Republicans out there. If she gets nomination, she's going to have a very good chance of going all the way.

And the extreme left of her party will rip her apart for Iraq.
And to appease them, she'll lurch left on everything else. Ahh, the Democratic party.

#2  And the extreme left of her party will rip her apart for Iraq. I love it when they eat their own.
