#11  When I heard that Malcom Bricklin was in on this (dunno if he still is), I knew it was going to flop.

Chuck:
That was precisely his point. Some Toyotas cost under $20K, while some cost twice as much. A typical sleight of hand would be to list the price of, oh, an Echo, in China, then a Highlander over here.

He's cornering the container market.

#7  That's like saying a Toyota can be bought for $20,000. Which Toyota model?

You know, this probably isn't a good example to tout. Toyota has several Models with an MSRP under $20,000. Some of them are under $15,000.

Care to take another shot at it?

#6  So his specialty is getting rich on wrecking things?
Sounds like he's very good at it...

#5  How did he get rich?

He got his first billion helping to cause the southeast Asian currency crisis.

He got his second billion trying to tank the British pound.

He's a currency speculator. Perfect for the Dhimmicrats.

His specialty is cornering the financial markets. Not political analysis. Or selling cars. It's like how McDonald's is great at operating restaurants, but probably lousy at making computers.

#3  Article: the Chery can be bought in China for $3,600. In the United States, the Chery list price is expected to be around $20,000.

That's like saying a Toyota can be bought for $20,000. Which Toyota model? Chery's low-end Chinese model is the QQ. In China, the cost is about $5,000, at current exchange rates. It's being exported to Malaysia, but with a bigger (over 1000cc) engine than its Chinese equivalent, which is sub-1000cc. Any US model would have a bigger engine still, than the Malaysian model. I'm thinking in the region of 1500cc (1.5L). We're probably looking at a $10,000 American QQ, after engine size and safety-related changes are factored in. It might have a future here - the JD Power survey (in China) gave the QQ a better rating than the GM model it was copied from (although this might just be Chinese nationalism at work - on the part of the survey respondents).

$20 grand for a piece of crap? There are lots of good cars for less. More proof that Soros is an idiot.
