A man was arrested in Phoenix on Sunday on suspicion of attacking a woman with a staple gun, police said. Officers responded to a report of screams coming from the back of a red and white box truck in the 4600 block of West Thomas Road. They stopped the vehicle, and a man who seemed to be in his late 20s emerged from the driver's side "covered in blood," police Lt. John White said.While searching the truck, police found a barely conscious woman in her mid-20s who had been severely beaten in the face and attacked in the face, scalp, neck and shoulders with a staple gun. The staple gun was next to her in the truck. The woman was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. She survived her injuries. The man was booked on charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping.
