Draft law calls for amputation of thieves' hands Aceh |
2006-12-13 |
![]() "May" alarm them? The draft law was published Tuesday in an advertisement in Aceh's Serambi newspaper that was paid for by the agency responsible for implementing Islamic Shariah law in the tsunami-ravaged province, which only recently emerged from decades of civil war. The advertisement called on readers to comment on the proposed law so it could be revised before being handed over to local legislators for debate. |

#5 So, do they cut off the left hand and expose the populus to someone whose handshake will forever be unclean? Or do they cut off the right hand and force the populus the have everything this person touches become unclean? Or do they just assign the rotter his own little boy with a sponge on a stick? The question still stands. Either way, this punishment causes the public to be exposed to haram conduct. Personally, I find the contradiction exemplary of Islam in general. |

#2 Even a stopped clock is right (once or) twice a day - Sharia might be ok on this. But if the thieves were British soldiers would they still get the million dollar compensation money for loss of a limb? |

#1 Interestingly, the ex-rebel leader they just elected as governor of Aceh is opposed to Shariah law. |
