![]() The exchange of fire between the militants and Indian troops broke out late on Friday and was still continuing in the Shopian area, 55 km (35 miles) south of Srinagar, Kashmir’s summer capital, he said. “On a tip off, (the) army laid siege to a hideout and asked militants to surrender, the militants opened fire which resulted in an encounter,” Lieutenant-Colonel A. K. Mathur said. |
