LJ activist arrested

The Korangi police arrested an alleged activist of the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LJ), during routine checking on Tuesday night. The police claimed to have recovered a Kalashnikov and a kilogram of explosive from his possession. The arrested accused has been identified as Adeel Arif, an activist of the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LJ).

Separately, an under-trial prisoner brought to the Civil Hospital for treatment from the Landhi Jail died late on Tuesday. Sources told The News that Azam Khan, a resident of Manghopir locality, had been arrested by the North Nazimabad police for possessing illegal arms, and was sent to the jail about a year ago. In the jail he became sick and was brought to the hospital a few days ago, where he breathed his last.

Also, one Liaquat Ali, 24, was shot dead, when unidentified gunmen opened fire on him during cash-snatching bid at a milk shop in Block C North Nazimabad late on Tuesday night. The body was handed over to deceasedÂ’s relatives after legal formalities.
