| Michael Steele for Republican National Chairman? | |

| Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele (R), who came up just short yesterday in his Senate race against Rep. Ben Cardin (D), is mulling a bid for the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee, according to an informed GOP source. Steele would not challenge current RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman, but chatter among Republican insiders is that Mehlman has made clear for months that he might not return to his current post. "Chairman Mehlman will be making an announcement regarding his future at the RNC in the coming weeks," said RNC communication director Brian Jones. Mehlman has made outreach to the African American community a priority during his time as head of the party, and Steele would be seen as a logical successor to that effort.

| #8 well some may get pissed off but as I heard it directly... Pitiful. Cant get one of our own that has the values we have for families, etc. Those vote democrat no matter what blacks are the real house ni***rs, dancing to the tune of the white people in charge and too damn timid to even walk away or even say a peep about they way they have used black people while collecting their votes. Blacks people in MD and elsewhere just keep staying on the plantation, and supping whatever scraps the masta' sends em. |

| #2 I heard that rumor. Interesting. As to Steele, wonder if the fact that his highest office has been Lt.Gov. will be a problem. And can he raise money? Dirty business but someone has to do it and do it well. We sure don't want Liddy Dole near the fundraisers ever again. |

| #1 I'll push for him from where I live. He is articulate, humorous, and most of all, unapologetically CONSERVATIVE. Perfect guy for "the face of the Republican Party". Mehlman is going to join Rove on Guiliani's 08 campaign staff. |
